Hi!
I am so happy to have found your community! I am currently awaiting importation of all my gr stuff! I love to read and have only just recently gotten into e-reading! Looking forward to meeting like minded people and finding even more books for my to-read shelf! lol!
I loved this book! A contest for high school kids to write an app! It wasn't overly technical, but there were some juicy hacking moments! :-) I did find part of it a bit silly, but the way that part was concluded was great... Makes me wonder how much of this stuff is real? Run out and get your "BuyPhone" now, lol! Great read for any ya reader interested in technology.... Lots of romance included, too, not too sappy, imho... Typical high school stuff. Interesting characters and storyline kept me turning the pages! Recommended!
I received this book as part of the Goodreads first-read program. I really enjoyed it! The author is able to talk about ordinary events in everyone's lives and make them extraordinary! Eating breakfast with your children is not just breakfast! When God and spirituality is a part of your daily life, you realize that you are not boring and ordinary....
WoW! What a fun story! Reminded me of a Stephen King or a Twilight Zone episode! Very well written! I couldn't stop turning the pages and read it in one sitting. I definitely was not anticipating what happened! Definitely recommended!
I was really looking forward to this book, but I found myself disappointed... I was easily distracted while reading it, maybe all the talk of distractions kept me thinking of going online! I found the book to be a bit choppy, but there is some good advice! I am not one that is constantly texting or checking facebook, so, if you are, you may find this a much better read than I did!
Excellent read! Had a hard time putting this one down! It is not overly technical, so it is easily readable by anyone.... And, it is not just about hacking! The author is able to draw you in to the story and keeps it going. Definitely recommended, looking forward to the next book!
WoW! I picked this up at the library, thinking it would be a quick and easy read.... Boy, was I wrong! It was written a long time ago and portrays another world that I really had no idea about! It definitely is NOT politically correct! It follows the lives of three white families who are tenants on farms and "borrow" seed, fertilizer, etc from the landowners to be paid back when the harvest is ready. They are told what, when and where to plant. What abject poverty it portrays! And, such back breaking work. Education is sacrificed for farm work and health care is rare.... Even shoes are rare!
I totally loved this book! Don't be fooled by the cover, the title or the beginning! It is definitely a Great read!!!! Unfortunately, the cover reminds me of something from the 1950's, but, this one is up-to-date! I won't give away the plot, but the story is very relevant to what is going on in the world today.... I was a little put off by the beginning as it was a little too "foodie" for me... But, once you get past that, which is basically an introduction to the main characters, it really picks up! I could barely put it down! I kept reading to find out what was going to happen next! The author really keeps the plot moving and was successfully able to draw me in! Highly recommended!
I never even thought of reading this one! My friend got an e-copy from the library and didn't want to read it, so I glanced at it... That was my first mistake.... At first, I read a few pages and thought it was OK. But, somehow, it took hold of me and I couldn't put it down! I loved the way it went back and forth between the husband's current narration and the wife's diary from the past... I didn't have it figured out, all I knew was that something wasn't adding up in the two accounts... That is probably what drew me in! No spoilers..... lol!

I loved this book and hated to see it end! Since the author was involved with Amazon and the beginnings of their e-books, I was expecting a book mostly about that. However, he writes about all aspects of digital publishing in general.
I really enjoyed this book! Everyone should be reminded to turn off their blue tooth connections, as anyone can connect to it! The author also points out the dangers of RFID chips, which are popping up all over. With a simple antenna, these signals can be picked up from very long distances!
I didn't find a flow to this book.... I did have my ideas about sociopaths shattered a bit when I read this. I think I was mostly surprised to find that sociopaths seem to hold very high positions in our society....
What a great story! I loved the way this was written, straight to the point, not flowery... My only complaint is that I wish it was longer, as I found myself not wanting it to end! I don't read a lot of fiction, especially short stories, as you are investing in getting to know characters and the story is over before you know it! However, this one didn't have an overload of characters and the author did a great job introducing each one. I loved the technology aspect of it, also! I don't want to give any spoilers, so I won't talk about the story, except to say that this is well worth reading!
You might think this would be a very depressing book, as it is about cancer and chemo. However, the author does a wonderful job tackling this subject!
Even though this book is already over two years old, there is still a lot of great info here! Yes, some of it is definitely outdated. However, I think it would be a good read for anyone that is new to the Android platform in general. Unless you already have an I-something or other! In that case, you are probably already familiar with what apps are, the various categories and all the wonderful things they can do for you!
